Subband Realization of Space-Time Adaptive Processing for Mobile Communications

In this paper, we study the space-time adaptive processing (STAP) and its subband realization for mobile communications. The conditions of perfect STAP processing (i.e., perfect equalization of desired user signal and perfect suppression of undesired user signals), are investigated in noise-free case, which provide a basic rule for practical design of STAP systems. Based on the polyphase representation, we then show that STAP can be equivalently realized with the use of filter bank, yielding the subband space-time adaptive processing (SSTAP). Under the scheme of SSTAP, the convergence rate is improved when LMSlike algorithms are used. The simulation results support the analysis and the efficacy of the proposed SSTAP scheme.
